WHAT DRIVES YOU?

Today I have felt like I was in one of those B rated movies where a character is trying to make a choice and the devil will appear sitting on one of his shoulders and angel on the other. Both of them try to plead their case with why they think he should make the right or wrong decision.
I felt like I have had a HOT FUDGE SUNDAE on one shoulder and a BOWL OF FRUIT on the other. The HOT FUDGE SUNDAE will whisper in my ear and say come on one bite won't hurt you. I know me! One bite leads to finishing the whole thing off and then I say, "Well since I blew it, I might as well do it right," So I chase the HOT FUDGE SUNDAE down with another one or a cheeseburger.

The BOWL OF FRUIT is something I really enjoy and when I eat it I feel extremely satisfied. The problem is it doesn't plead it's case as good as the HOT FUDGE SUNDAE. It whispers while the HOT FUDGE SUNDAE yells.

In this 30 Day Challenge I guess we have to determine WHAT DRIVES US? If all that is driving us is a piece of paper that we signed last week then it is hard to resist when the HOT FUDGE SUNDAE is screaming. If you are driven by "HONORING GOD WITH YOUR BODY" the whisper of the bowl of fruit will get your attention.

Amen to that Jason. I have to admit, I've blew it a couple times, but I'm not giving up. Still, I'm drinking water not Sodas, still battling the urge to drink coffee, and I'm sticking to the commitment to practice Basketball with the Mayhem team. I was filled with a lot of worry after seeing Dr. Axe, but now I'm trusting God. As I continue to step out in faith, he will continue to move me. The same God that delivered me from my addictions is still with me now.

WOTD: detoxify • \dee-TAHK-suh-fye\ • verb
1 a : to remove a harmful substance (as a poison or toxin) or the effect of such from b : to render (a harmful substance) harmless
2 : to free (as a drug user or an alcoholic) from an intoxicating or an addictive substance in the body or from dependence on or addiction to such a substance
3 : neutralize
Example Sentence:
Yi wrote her term paper on the city's efforts to detoxify a contaminated landfill.
Did you know?
These days, "detoxify" can mean "to free (someone) from a substance addiction" (and yes, it's the source of "detox," a more recent word that also refers to getting drugs or alcohol out of a person's system). Originally, however, detoxification was something done to things rather than to people. In its earliest uses -- from about 1905 -- "detoxify" referred to the removal of poison, or of poisonous or damaging properties, from a harmful substance, or to the removal of poisonous or toxic substances from something contaminated (such as the bloodstream). The specific application to removing "poison" from an addict is relatively new, dating to the mid-20th century. Today, "detoxify" is also often used generally in reference to counteracting the activity or effect of anything harmful (such as propaganda).

*Indicates the senses illustrated in the example sentence.

Wow!! That hits home. It has been hard trying to resist eating the sweets. A water is a must with me because of Kayla, but sweets are really hard. I like the picture you have used.....that makes it even harder when you can see how good it looks. Thanks!!! I am driven to see myself and Chad lead by example for the girls to follow. In the end healthy eating leaves you feeling good!!

I am also driven by our daughter aslyn. For me actions speak so much louder than words. If I can represent a healthy lifestyle it broadcasts to my children, parents, grandparents, co-workers etc. I started cycling to work and while some jest at my spandex(who wouldnt) others seem to be moved by the idea. On another note i have had several slips in my diet and its amazing how bad that stomach will churn when you gorge yourself. Physical and spiritual reminders.
