SMALL BEGINNINGS

Right now Music City Assembly of God seems to be in the days of small beginnings. Though we have been plugging along for several years now it seems that we have still not begun to reach our full potential for the kingdom. Zechariah 4:10 is one of my all-time favorite passages. "Don't despise the day of small beginnings." It is easy for us and ecspecially me as the pastor to think negatively towards these seasons because they do not seem as grand as we have dreamed, but we must not despise them for they are the building blocks on which God will build our success.

GET OUT OF THE PLANE!

Last Saturday I went skydiving! I had always wanted to go but I had never pursued the opportunity. I never will forget the feeling I had being at 12,000ft and having the instructor say, "now scoot off of the edge of the plane." I know to truly skydive you have to get out of the plane but it was a little easier to visualize getting out of the plane while the plane was still on the ground. Everyday we are confronted with opportunities that in order to experience them "we have to get out of the plane". It's scary stepping out into the unknown, but it so rewarding. The Bible says "faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) All of us have hopes and dreams. The challenge is to make sure the "things not seen" do not rob us of their fulfilment.

First Blog Post

Today is the first posting on my blog. I am new to this but I hope that the daily devotional thoughts, stories from my day, or just a meaningful quote will be an encouragement to you. I welcome your thoughts, feedback, and ideas as I begin this journey of the blog!
